(un)Reliable Recordings presents Michal Martyniuk’s “How Do We Make It ft. Vanessa Freeman remixes EP”

Aotearoa/New Zealand’s original house imprint continues reboot with a second remix package showcasing one of the country’s fastest-rising and most talented musicians.

Mike Patto (Reel People) and Kaidi Tatham (Bugz in the Attic) headline floor-smashing reworks of Michal Martyniuk’s Vanessa Freeman-voiced anthem; deep house stalwarts Reed & Radley complete the collection.
Already a rising star of the global neo-soul and jazz scenes, Michal Martyniuk’s latest project sees him go all-in on the dancefloor.

The Poland-born, New Zealand-based jazz pianist, composer and producer has enlisted a who’s who of remix talent to reinterpret key tracks from his 2021 Reconciliation EP. Hailing from the soulful end of the electronic spectrum, Michal’s remixers bring fresh perspective to his timeless grooves.

Building on the incredible reception for the remixes of fellow Reconciliation track New Things (Traxsource Soulful House #1, All Genres Top 10), this second package features new versions of How Do We Make It?

A reflective and compassionate attempt to make sense of crazy Covid times, the song stars the never-classier voice of Vanessa Freeman (4Hero, Bugz In The Attic, Nathan Haines). The original was produced and mixed by UK legend Mike Patto (Reel People).

And it’s Patto who offers two reworks of his own production. The Trés Disco Mix is a peak-time stomper complete with acid jazz guitar licks that should find favour with fans of Dave Lee’s Z Records and Glitterbox. In contrast, his Downtempo Mix is a glorious, loping neo-soul groove with a rock-solid rhythmic foundation and all-new instrumentation.

Kaidi Tatham’s radical rework captures his incredible history in one astounding remix - skittering, syncopated beats and huge juddering basslines defying you to even consider not legging it to the floor. Legendary UK studio wizard Toni Economides is on mix duty for both Kaidi Taham’s and Mike Patto’s remixes.

Reed & Radley’s deeeeeeeep house mixes are built around a hypnotic tripped-out groove. Underpinned by woozy, pulsing chords and propelled by flecks of acid, the Cosmosis Mix is heady fare all the way to the glorious release of the final chorus. Their dub offers subtle, predominantly arrangement-related variations.
